Pelham Waterford

Key Features

The Pelham has attachments for two reins, one near the mouthpiece and one at the end of the shank. Some riders, may prefer to use rein connectors. The Pelham  55mm shank will exert moderate poll pressure and leverage on the mouthpiece and curb. The Waterford bit has many smooth flexible bobbles which spread the pressure making it a light mouthpiece. The greater flexibility discourages a horse from leaning on it, it also promotes mouthing and salivation.

Cheekpiece

The cheekpiece is available in 2 sizes, standard and a slightly smaller model for a pony. The standard size Pelham has 2 length shanks. The longer shank allows for more hand movement and slows the leveraging of the pressure points.

Mouthpiece

The Waterford is usually worn ¼” – ½” or 5mm – 10mm longer than your traditional mouthpiece in order to curl around the tongue and maximise the effect.

Supplied with a curb chain.
