Fools In Love

Bombers ambassador, eventer Hayden Hankey, is back into the British eventing season with vigour. “Lots has been happening here at Team Hankey.

We spent the first couple of months of 2023 preparing the horses for their first events of the year in March,” Hayden explains.

“My main string at the moment include my top horse Fools In Love, or Joker as he is called at home.

He jumped his first advanced last season, finishing in the top 5, so this season is very exciting for him as he aims for the 4* at Bramham and Blenheim,” Hayden tells us.

“Love Sick, or Guinness, jumped his first novice classes last year; he will start his season at BE100, and work his way back up and novice and 2 star,” Hayden continues.

The team’s new boy Billy, show name ‘Ramiro Red’, has been out and about showjumping, allowing Hayden getting to know the horse, and getting some milage under his belt before his start to the season. “He’s the greenest of the string,” Hayden explains.

Excitingly, the team also has foals due soon from Hayden’s 2 star winner, Cartown Galaxy, pictured; “We also have foals due from novice winner ‘May Imp’, as well as the very smart rising 5yo ‘Zara’, and a very well bred mare ‘Candy’,” Hayden says.

“In their own time, Cartown Galaxy and May Imp will return to the eventing field, and Zara will continue her ridden education – so it will be a busy summer!”

The team enjoyed their first events of the season in March; “Hopefully we have started how we mean to go on, with wins for Ramiro Red & Love Sick and in the BE100 open,” Hayden enthuses.

“With Oasby horse trials sadly completely cancelled, we headed to Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre  for some more showjumping, wih Ramiro Red’ in the 1.10m, ‘Love Sick’ also in the 1.10m and ‘Fools In Love’ in the 1.20m, all jumping beautifully. We can’t wait for the rest of the season with this lovely string of horses,” he concludes.
