Key Features
The Stockman is a leverage bit, meaning that it multiplies the pressure applied by the rider.
The shorter the shank:
- the more force is needed on the reins to provide a given amount of pressure on the mouth.
- the bits only need to rotate a short distance before applying pressure on the horse’s mouth
- the horse has less warning in a short shanked bit.
The curved shank is conducive to a nose-out head position when working.
The Elliptical is stronger than the Control Plate due to it concentrating pressure onto a smaller surface area. This bit will suit a horse that pushes the bit with its tongue. The horse will lower its head and tuck its chin in, finding a better balance of control.
Cheekpiece
The standard size Stockman has 2 length shanks. The longer shank allows for more hand movement and slows the leveraging of the pressure points.
Mouthpiece
Bomber recommends this conventional mouthpiece for both schooling and competition, it applies sharper pressure than the plate to the tongue and similar pressure to the bar, bringing the head down.
The nylon composite material is light in the mouth and encourages salivation. It is particularly well suited to horses that object to metal mouth pieces.
At the foundation is a stainless-steel spine around which the Bomber Blue nylon material is injection moulded, providing a smooth sleek profile where the non-metal material lines up with the steel elements, giving an overall ergonomic shape that sits comfortably in the horse’s mouth without any unnecessary pressure points. Winner of the BETA 2024 New Product Award.
Supplied with a nylon back strap.
