Tom Thumb Snaffle
The Snaffle is a popular bit due to the curved mouthpiece which distributes pressure more evenly over tongue and bars. With the offset centre link it will reduce nutcraker action and pressure points on the tongue.
This is similar to the Ring bits or Dutch Gags and introduces poll pressure as well creating leverage on the mouthpiece, the main difference however is that instead of the additional rings at the bottom it has an extended shank with a ring on the end, this shank is bent and set to run at 45° the effect this has is to ease up the poll pressure and leverage on the mouthpiece.
All our bits are made from blue sweet iron, because it:
- oxidises easily
- encourages salivation
- helps bit acceptance
- is warm and sweet
Please note the blue will fade with use.
Trust Bombers blue sweet iron bits!
