Drop\Hanging Cheek Dressage Control Plate
Approved by the FEI, the Dressage Control Plate( click
on the link to go to the letter of approval) is narrower (14mm) than the conventional plate and applies more tongue pressure.
The plate is set at 45° to follow the contour of the horses tongue. Consequently, a horse who uses his tongue as a means of pushing against the bit and therefore taking control, will draw back and tuck his chin in, coming back to a better point of control.
This differs from a Dr Bristol which sits horizontally with the edge of the plate on the tongue.
The Drop Cheek has an Eggbutt like ring at the mouthpiece for the rein, with an upper cheek that has a ring at its end, to which the cheekpiece of the bridle is attached.
The mouthpiece does not slide on its ring resulting in only slight poll pressure. The cheekpieces lies flat against the horse's face, and the mouthpiece is quite fixed in the mouth and concentrates pressure on the bars.
All our bits are made from blue sweet iron, because it:
- oxidises easily
- encourages salivation
- helps bit acceptance
- is warm and sweet
Please note the blue will fade with use.
