Henry Beckett is a young Zambian player who hails from a little town called Choma in a the southern province. He has represented Zambia both vs South Africa and Zimbabwe and finished his schooling in South Africa last year (2008) and will be going to Australia next year to study and hopefully continue playing polocrosse. He had the following responses to our Questions:
Q:Can you remember the first time you fell of and what happened?
A: I was 5, my grandfather started trotting without telling me, I came off and got run over ....... lovely
Q: What has been the most jaw dropping thing you have seen on the polocrosse feild?
A: World cup 2007 when Tony Schraffts horse fell down in the area , Tony picked up the ball the horse got up and they scored - i wasnt there but i saw the video...
Q: What is an important thing to focus on as a player learning polocrosse ?
A: Although I think ball skills are important, I think the most important aspect of the game is being able to ride well
Q: What are you looking forward to this year ?
A: Junior Zim Zam and hopefully playingf in the Cape Classic in South Africa
Q: Who do you think is the best player ever ?
A: Henry Harris
Q: Who made you first take notice of the game ?
A: My mum and dad
Q: Who has been the toughest player you have had to play against?
A: Right now probably Dawnay Jacobs, but that could change this weekend
Q: What would you say is your signature or favourite move?
A: I think most people would say my backward pickup
Q: Which horse if you could have any would you have?
A: Scallywag, owned by Anne Maire Dodd
Q: If you could change a rule what would it be?
A: I'd ban over arm goals
Q: What keeps you coming back to the game for more ?
A: The freinds the parties and the fact that my whole family can play and enjoy the same thing
